Accepting EMI and Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurances. Tom received his Bachelor's of Science Degree from Brigham Young University in Psychology. He then received his Master's Degree from the University of Utah in Social Work. Tom has worked as the Administrative Director for the Utah State Hospital for over two decades working with clients in an inpatient setting. While at the Utah State Hospital, he was also the Programs Administrator over Pediatric Services where he worked closely with children of all ages on various issues. He has also worked with children and adolescents at the Children's Justice Center in Provo in an outpatient group therapy setting. Tom has worked with at-risk children at the Department of Child and Family Services and the Juvenile Justice System for the past ten years. He has been part of state-wide planning groups related to care and treatment for the "at risk" population as well as involved in state-level groups developing care and treatment strategies for adolescents and children with extreme psychiatric and behavioral needs. Tom primarily uses Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), Motivational Interviewing, Creative Expressions and other therapeutic modalities based on his clients' needs. Tom's focus is primarily a strength based approach, helping clients achieve their goals through recognizing and magnifying their unique set or strengths and abilities while carefully removing or minimizing roadblocks to success. He believes in listening carefully and moving thoughtfully. Tom works with all ages of individuals and has experience working with issues of depression, anxiety, addiction, personality disorders, sexual and physical abuse and trauma, couples and family therapy, oppositional defiance disorder (ODD), conduct disorder, social anxiety and spirituality issues. Tom enjoys listening to and playing traditional folk music on his guitar and rock balancing.
